SM Reducing the Environmental Impact of US Cotton Production Today, cotton grown in the U.S. is among the most meticulously regulated in the world, with each individual farm reporting its practices and chemical usage to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, as well as to regulatory bodies at the regional and state levels. US cotton growers are making great strides in reducing soil erosion by applying a variety of farming techniques conserving soil resources. SOIL RESOURCES Since water resources are limited, cotton producers are prudent in implementing a number of approaches for water management and conserving water resources.
